Yes. In my opinion, Facebook Ads have quickly become my #1 source of local traffic and leads for local remodelers, home builders, and service based businesses. If you had asked me this 6-10 months ago I would have said Google, Google, and Google.
Now this is not to say that Google is not important because it is. Apercentage of your local market is still going to be actively researching, discovering, and contacting a local business using Google. But the majority of the market is either not ready to search for you and your services or they have found a much easier way to discover local businesses and that is typically on Facebook.
For the last several months I've been noticing two trends. First, the decline of SEO's value as a lead generation tool. If you have the budget and time it definitely still works but my clients needed something that will work quickly and provide more control over the results. With SEO you cannot do either of those things.
The second trend is more exciting, almost startling. Facebook has been around for years, but lately it has emerged as a lead generation tool par excellence. A powerhouse that combines precision targeting with an under-the-radar quality that lets you catch your prospects outside the usual buyer/seller context.
The godfather of all things Google Adwords, Perry Marshall has this to say about Facebook Advertising…
"Facebook ads are now my #1 source of new customers, surpassing Google AdWords. No other traffic source in the last 5 years has brought me more customers for less money. Facebook advertising is working 4X better than ever before, and for more people than ever before."
–Perry Marshall, World's #1 Google AdWords Expert
For Perry to say that Facebook is his go to source for new customers made me start to pay closer attention to what was really going on with Facebook. Facebook has become 100% a "pay to play" marketing tool these days. Those who do not recognize the changes that have been made by Facebook will be extremely disappointed with the old way of doing things. Facebook has to start generating revenue for its shareholders and Facebook Ads is the answer.
The best part is you can take advantage of the fact that most people still haven't realized the value of what the new Facebook now represents. This could be a tremendous competitive advantage for you. As of today, the cost of launching the kind of Facebook campaign I'm recommending is almost absurdly low. It won't stay that way. Word will eventually get around and then there will be a stampede, which will drive costs up dramatically. Always works that way.
But you be the judge. I have spent the past 6 months uncovering and testing all kinds of Facebook Ad strategies for my clients.
